Railcar Repair Technician

Job Description

We are looking for a Railcar Repair Technician to join our team at First Response Rail Service, Inc., a company specializing in rail asset management, transloading logistics, and rail fleet repairs. As a Railcar Technician based in Boyertown, Pennsylvania, you will be responsible for conducting daily railcar inspections, performing necessary repairs, welding, fabrication, and part change-outs in the field. We are seeking a self-motivated individual who is comfortable working independently or in small groups and is eager to learn and grow in the freight car repair field.

Job Overview

• Inspecting railcars daily.
• Performing all necessary repairs on the railcars.
• Executing program work based on a provided scope of work.
• Performing heavy repairs involving welding and fabrication.
• Conducting railcar part change-outs in the field on a work track.

Requirements

• Willingness to travel as needed.
• Mechanically inclined with experience in using an oxygen/acetylene torch, MIG, and stick welding.
• Good spatial awareness and attention to detail.
• Ability to lift upwards of 80 lbs for short periods and walk up to 10 miles a day.
• Strong time management skills and reliability, including the ability to work weekends and holidays as needed.
• Dedication to continuous learning.

Salary is negotiable based on skills, and travel per diem is provided. The schedule primarily consists of Monday to Friday work with occasional weekend and holiday shifts.
