Job Description
We are looking for a Kitchen Assistant to join our team at Hornblower - City Experiences in Norfolk, VA. As a Kitchen Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Sous Chef and kitchen staff in delivering high-quality dining experiences on our cruises.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the management of back-of-the-house (BOH) cruise operations alongside the Executive Chef.
- Recruit, train, and schedule kitchen staff to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
- Maintain high standards of sanitation, safety, and guest service during cruise execution.
- Collaborate with the Executive Chef and F&B Director on staff development and incentive programs.
- Manage kitchen costs, inventory, purchasing, and payroll in accordance with company guidelines.
- Participate in fleet-wide initiatives and other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of three (3) years of kitchen experience in a high-volume environment.
- Previous kitchen staff management experience preferred.
- Formal culinary training or additional kitchen experience is a plus.
- ServSafe Certified.
- Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills.
- Ability to work in confined spaces and within extreme temperature ranges.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
